Youth-Led High Adventure
Troop 99 pairs rigorous Pacific Northwest backpacking, climbing, and paddling with a structured, youth-led method that builds real self-reliance.
How We Prepare
Route Mapping
Shakedown Inspection
Youth Leadership
Scouts plot elevation profiles and trail coordinates using topographic maps of the Cascade Range, planning every camp location beforehand.
Every pack is weighed and checked for the ten essentials, ensuring scouts carry exactly what they need for self-reliance.
On the trail, youth patrol leaders make the navigation decisions, backed by trained adult safety mentors who guide without taking over.

Safety Led by Experience
While our scouts make the decisions on the trail, they are backed by a rigorous safety framework. Our adult leaders are trained in Wilderness First Aid and youth protection, ensuring every high-adventure outing is both challenging and secure.
From the Cascades to the Oregon Coast, we maintain strict communication protocols, weather monitoring, and gear standards so scouts can push their limits safely.
